Streaming vs. Downloading

If you enjoy watching movies or television shows on your computer, I can bet that you have heard these terms before. But it turns out that many people don't know what they mean, and more importantly, what the differences are.

When you download a file (music, photo, ect.) , you are making a copy of it and storing it on your device.

Streaming on the other hand is when you are constantly receiving data to display a video or music. Think of the radio playing music.  Some popular sites that stream videos are YouTube, NetFlix and Hulu. While music is often streamed on Pandora or Spotify. When you stream media, you can't easily download and save it.
OK, first let’s define streaming and downloading. Downloading is when you take a file, whether that be a video, music, or some other data, and you copy it from a device or the Internet to your computer or phone. Downloading a file makes a copy of that file on whatever device you are using. - See more at: http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/tech/web/streaming-versus-downloading#sthash.mHg9e69S.dpuf
